Fiker Institute Hosts Public Lecture on Gulf Mediation

Dubai, UAE – September 22, 2025 – Under the title The Gulf as a Diplomatic Broker: Mediation in the Age of Realignment, for the fifth volume of Fiker Institute’s Public Lecture Series, and as part of Fiker Institute’s Al-Khaleej Program. Dr. Hasan Alhasan from The International Institute for Strategic Studies examined the Gulf’s growing role as a mediator in regional and global affairs, highlighting the strategies, challenges, and opportunities that define diplomacy in an era of shifting alignments. During the inaugural lecture of the Al-Khaleej program, he covered why the Gulf is interested in mediation as well as the risks that are associated with mediation and how these efforts will develop in the future. Dr. Alhasan also touched on the role the GCC plays in institutionalizing regional cooperation and the possibilities for wider Arab multilateral cooperation.
