Fiker Institute Holds a Lecture On Gulf States’ Role in Global Energy Politics
Dubai, UAE – January 16, 2026 –
As part of Fiker Institute’s Al-Khaleej Program, we hosted inaugural fellow Ahmed Buhejji, diplomat at Bahrain’s foreign ministry, for a lecture on how Gulf states are reshaping their role in global energy politics. The session examined the evolution of energy as a diplomatic tool of influence, from the 1970s to modern cases. The discussion also focused on the global energy transition and persistent demand for fossil fuels, highlighting how price volatility exposes Gulf economies to fiscal risks. It assessed whether a unified GCC energy policy could enhance stability despite policy differences and existing dynamics.
